If you're ever passing through Sturbridge...

Postby Greg55_99 » Wed Mar 26, 2014 10:14 am

I'm new to the forum so I thought I might pass on a potential lead. This Barracuda drop top has been sitting on this particular piece of property for at LEAST seven years. That's as long as I've been up here. It's been out in the open all of that time. I pass it twice a week before dropping my kids off for school and grit my teeth when I see it sitting there. In that time, it's been moved once. I have no idea who the owner is or even who owns the property it sits on. The house's that it abuts are not occupied. There is a pond next to it that spills over every so often so the ground under the car is perpetually mud. You can imagine what the floor boards are like. Nontheless, it looks like a four speed car with a 318 and 8 3/4. Looks like it has suffered somewhat over the years at the hands of curious passerby's. The hood was not bent when I first saw it. It's on Cooper Street in Sturbridge (Fiskdale). Sneke, you being a pleader, maybe you can find out the who, what and how much of it. It's a shame to let it go....

Hmm. It doesn't look THAT bad considering its a vert in MA.
I just happen to specialize in real estate work, I should be able to track down who owns the property if I figure out what # the property is.

Greg, next time you drive by, check that out for me. If not, I might be cruising around there Saturday night.

Plug "14 Cooper Road", sturbridge, MA into your Google Satelite Maps. You'll see two buildings with the car sitting between them when you zoom in. Both of those houses are not occupied. Have some fun! Maybe you'll swap the wagon for a Cuda. :-)

Hey, look at that!

14 Cooper Road turns up nothing for me through the Registry of Deeds, but I will start digging a little bit deeper.

I just noticed: That car used to be Green!

Well, here's one more pic to wet your whistle. If you swing on by, make sure you stop at BT's Smokehouse here in town. Best Bar B Que west of 495! Drop me a line, I'll show you my stash!

Greg, I'm in Sturbridge every Saturday around 6:30AM and somewhere between 5:00PM and 10:00PM, headed back towards my apartment in Dedham from my parents' in North Brookfield. I will definitely drop you a line, and I have yet to try BT's, but I have heard good things! That might be a good meet location, actually. Who doesn't love BBQ?

And man, that picture just makes the car look so sad. It wants to be saved.

a buddy of mine sent me some picks of this car last spring. he was out doing a service call down the road. I went and took some more picks and ran the vin#. through a decoder app. then I knocked on the neighbors door to see if I could get some info. neighbors a nice guy (state cop). laughed when I said I was interested in the car. he said it's been sitting out there for years rusting away. the owner insist he's going to fix it up one day. ( btw, there is supposed to be an older dart in the woods behind the house.) also he's not sure what's in the barn. I did manage to get a name and rough address. i'll go though my notes and post it later.

ok, if anyone wants to chase this down here's what I got. the owners name is David Warrington from Charlestown R.I. . also be aware there are security cameras on the property. apparently the copper pipes were stolen from the house some years ago.
