Not a Mopar- Two Lane Blacktop 55 Chevy diecast

Postby 68383 » Sun May 05, 2013 11:52 am

Sorry, not a Mopar, but this is the current work in progress. It's the 55 Chevy from Two Lane Blacktop.

I've disassembled it, made it much more accurate, and am in the process of weathering the body. I've been in touch with the owner of the real car who has supplied some great reference photos and info. http://public.fotki.com/68383/two-lane-blacktop/

What it looked like when I bought it.

After a lot of work. And I still need to finish weathering the body.

If I had to have a Chevy, I'd want a replica of this car.

I realize this pretty far out of the Mopar realm, but I'll post it anyway. I really enjoy building replicas of cars I've owned, as well as cars from TV and movies.

Here's a link to my topic on the TLB movie car site. This is where the owner of the real car has shared a lot of details with me on the real car. http://twolaneblacktop.yuku.com/topic/1760

Started on the base for this car today. It's my first attempt at doing landscape.

The forefront will be asphalt with the double yellow line. The road will have a crown to it. Dirt on the roadside, them some bumpy terrain with grass and weeds in the background. The car will be pulled over on the side of the road, in the dirt.

I'm officially done with my Two Lane Blacktop diorama. Hope you guys enjoy the pictures. If you go to the link, pages 10 and 11 show views of the finished product. http://public.fotki.com/68383/two-lane-blacktop/

Dioramas are supposed to tell stories. Motion is implied with the skid marks, and the 55 MPH sign is because the car's a '55.

Image Image
This is a quote from James Taylor, who played "The Driver," in the film. The top of the car's a little sun baked.

Image Image
Trunk details are all true to what was in the trunk of the movie car. I made some roadside debris- McDonald's Cheeseburger wrappers, a cup, and some cigarette butts scattered around.

Image Image
Backside of the diorama. And you can see another Cheeseburger wrapper at the base of the sign post, in the grass.

Thanks. That's how the movie car looked. No trailer queen, that's for sure!
