'50 Ford Truck with DOHC Hemi

Postby 68383 » Sat Aug 23, 2014 11:36 pm

This build is based on my buddy's pickup. Planning to drop a DOHC Hemi in from the pro street Super Bee kit.

The real truck is a GMC.

I put these seats on some mismatched, rusty wheels.

The frame is a little crusty.

Similar to the sign on my buddy's truck.

These are 23" Torque Thrusts in 1/25 scale. I'm thinking of painting the spokes semi-gloss black to resemble the ones on the real truck.

I think it would definitely look better with the wheels like the real deal. They both look awesome though.

Well, I made my final push, despite the parts I had ordered not showing up. They're cool too- coolant jugs, 55 gallon drum trash barrels, etc.

I had no choice- it's for an on-line contest due Sunday, 11/16.

I'll take pictures outside tomorrow. In the meantime, here's what it looks like.

I fabbed the bumper from some square tubing and straight pins.

And some small stuff. I built the pallet from balsa. The picture shows it partially weathered. The jack needs to get dirty. I also fabbed the black container to catch oil, coolant, or other fluids.

Looks pretty good, I think, when it's all put together. Not bad for making due with parts on hand.

I'm pretty pleased with the cold air pipes.

Finito, until I get the diorama parts that I had bought on-line. I had to clutter the scene with some leaves on this cold Fall day.
